Setting up the driver in SQuirreL: Open up SQuirreL SQL Client and select Drivers on the left to pull up the drivers list Scroll down to jTDS Microsoft SQL and select it. Then click Modify the Selected Driver. The CData JDBC Driver for MySQL enables you to execute queries to MySQL data in tools like Squirrel SQL Client. In this article, you will create a JDBC data source for MySQL data and execute queries. Add the JDBC Driver for MySQL Follow the steps below to add the driver JAR. SQuirreL SQL Client is a graphical Java program that will allow you to view the structure of a JDBC compliant database, browse the data in tables, issue SQL commands etc. You need to be running at least version 1.3 of Java. Some people have had problems with Java 1.3.0 so it is recommended that you use at least Java 1.3.1. Java 1.4 is preferred.

You can use the Elasticsearch JDBC driver to access Elasticsearch data from SQuirreL SQL.

To add the Elasticsearch JDBC driver, use Windows > View Drivers menu (or Ctrl+Shift+D shortcut):

Select Elasticsearch profile from the Drivers panel on the left-hand side (if it is missing check the SQuirreL SQL version or add a new entry to the list through the ‘+’ button in the upper left corner):

Select the Extra Class Path tab and Add the JDBC jar. Name the connection and List Drivers to have Class Name populated if it is not already filled-in :

The driver should now appear in the list with a blue check mark next to its name:

Add a new connection or in SQuirreL terminology an alias using the new driver. To do so, select the Aliases panel on the left and click the + sign:

Name the new alias and select the Elasticsearch driver previously added:

The setup is completed. Double check it by clicking on Test Connection.

The connection should open automatically (if it has been created before simply click on Connect in the Alias panel). SQuirreL SQL can now issue SQL commands to Elasticsearch:

You can use the Drill JDBC driver with SQuirreL to connect to Drill and query the data sources configured in Drill.

To use the Drill JDBC Driver with SQuirreL, verify that your system meets the prerequisites and then download and configure the driver.

• Java Runtime Environment (JRE), version 7.0 or later, installed on each machine where you plan to use the JDBC driver.
• Drill installed in distributed mode on one or multiple nodes in a cluster with data sources configured. See Connecting Drill to Data Sources.
• Verify that the system can resolve the hostnames of the ZooKeeper nodes of the Drill cluster. You can do this by configuring DNS for all of the systems. Alternatively, you can edit the hosts file to include the hostnames and IP addresses of all the ZooKeeper nodes used with the Drill cluster.
  • For Windows, create the entry in the %WINDIR%system32driversetchosts.
  • For Linux and Mac, create the entry in /etc/hosts.
